FAQs
Do
you have a shop?
We don't have a shop but you can Collect & Save from our warehouse
in Newport, South Wales. If you collect you will save the delivery charge
and make a further saving. Ring us now to arrange an appointment
or ask about our 'B' grade range at greatly reduced prices. We also
exhibit at a number of shows throughout the country so please check
Shows to see if we'll be near you.
How much is delivery?
We offer FREE delivery for accessories &
cookware to mainland UK addresses. There is a £29 pallet delivery
service charge for all Chimeneas to mainland UK. The
Scottish Highlands will incur a surcharge, please contact us with your
postcode to check the delivery charge. (Scottish postcodes
included in £29 delivery charge are TD, DG, KA(not islands), ML,
EH, G, FK, KY and some postcodes in PA, PH, DD).
How long does
delivery take?
We aim to send your goods
out within 5 days but for chimeneas please allow up to 2 weeks during
busy periods. Accessories are sent via Royal Mail or Parcelforce. Following
a number of breakages, Chimeneas are now delivered by a pallet delivery
service. The pallet is delivered 'kerbside'. If you think this will
be a problem for you please speak to us before placing the order.
Do I need
to sign for my goods?
Yes, when we use a courier
(for some accessories) or for the pallet delivery service someone will
need to sign to receive the goods. If you are unable to check the package
infront of the courier, please sign the documentation and write 'UNSEEN'
on it as this allows us to make a claim in the event of breakages.
My chimenea
was broken when I took it out of its packaging what do I do?
In the unlikely event that
your chimenea arrives damaged, please e-mail or mail us photos of the
problem along with a photo of the packaging if this was also damaged.
We will then contact you to resolve the issue.
I would like
my chimenea delivered on a Saturday is this available?
Unfortunately the pallet
service does not offer this delivery.
What makes
your chimeneas different to other chimeneas ?
Where shall we start? Our chimeneas are a country of origin product, Mexican chimeneas from
Mexico where they originated. They are not chinese copies which are
favoured by most DIY chains because they're cheap. Chinese clays are
not as good as mexican clays and therefore they are more likely to crack
at the first sign of frost. Our Mexichims are made for us so you won't find them anywhere else. They are fired to very high temperatures and are pre-sealed. The Superchim® can be used in all weathers.
It's frostproof down to -20°C without a chimenea cover (although
we do recommend using a cover when not in use to prevent rain blowing
inside, it won't affect the chim it will just stop your sand getting
soggy).
Isn't a cast
iron/metal chimenea better than clay?
No! Cast iron will rust and form holes. The rust will discolour your patio or decking. Also metal chimeneas are more likely to cause nasty burns. We suppose it's a matter of taste
but we think the clay chimeneas look so much nicer in the garden too.
Doesn't a
clay chimenea take a lot of looking after?
No. Use a sealant on our Mexichims once or twice a year. No maintenance needed with the Superchim®.
Just
make a couple of small fires in the chimenea to start with on a bed of sand and
then away you go.
What's the
best fuel to use?
We love to be carbon neutral so we'd always recommend using wood on both our Mexichims and Superchims.
You should use fully seasoned wood to avoid excessive smoke. Certainly
Wood produces the best seasonsed logs we have come across. They have
an excellent heat output and hardly any smoke, have a look at their
website for more information. You can use any fuel on our Superchim®.
